You've Got the Wrong Easter

Hey friends, I hope you were able to have a wonderful Easter and enjoy some quality food treasures and time with friends and family.

If you weren’t able to check out the Easter message, you can find it here. Give it a listen.

In the message I talked about how there are so many amazing details that surround Easter- all of them critically important and significant, but there is one that keeps if from becoming just another sad and forgotten story...and here it is...

Jesus rose from the grave.

Jesus being mocked, tortured- significant.

Jesus being crucified, with nails and spear piercing his flesh- extremely significant.

Jesus being buried in a tomb- significant.

But if Jesus would have never risen, we wouldn’t be talking about Jesus anymore.

Matthew 28:5-7

“I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.....He has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you... You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”

Jesus said...

“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Jesus is with us, but what Jesus died to do, was to lead us.

We were made to follow after Jesus, and Jesus will always be just up ahead, lighting the way.

Easter is God’s invitation to trust that that’s true...

Easter is an ongoing invitation to:

1. Know God

2. Discover what could be.

Each invitation comes with a critical question we need to answer:

Know God

Question: Do you know the God who’s just up ahead- who’s looking back for your hand?

Discover What Could Be

Question: Do you trust God with the space where you end and God begins?

Which invitation do you feel that you need to hone in on right now more than the other?

When you were listening to the sermon, what was the Spirit of God speaking into your heart?

It’s those very things that God drops, that we can’t leave on our Sunday morning chair.

That’s the very voice of God speaking to us, directing us, nudging us, clueing us in on things...

We can’t nod our heads in confirmation on Sunday and hang up our spiritual hats after Sunday brunch and expect things to be different.

We’ve got to find ways to keep what God spoke in our hearts and minds circulating and moving in the right direction.

We can’t let all of the less important things crowd out what’s literally most important.

In regards to this Easter message and what God personally dropped in you...

What do you need to start talking about?

Who do you need to talk to?

What should your next step be?

There are so many amazing details that surround Easter and there are many amazing details that surround us-

But there are only a few details that will keep our story from becoming just another sad and forgotten one...

Did you know God?

Are you going to discover what could be?
