Same God
If you were in church on Sunday, you learned a new song! It’s called “Same God”. I just wanted to share a couple of thoughts with you around the song. If you missed it, take a listen to the song HERE.
When I first heard this song, I latched onto it. God often puts songs like this in front of me in a timely manner. As I’m writing this email, there are uncertainties in my life, there are challenges I’m facing, there has been a lot of hurt, and a lot of loss. And I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing these things. However, this song has reminded me of the character of God—the never failing, ever constant God—unchanged in wisdom, power, goodness, and generosity towards me.
In the Bible, you may have read stories of a God who parted the Red Sea to rescue his people in Exodus 14, or when He miraculously provided food and drink for them in the wilderness (Exodus 16-17). Or maybe you’ve read about the God that was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, whom He miraculously protected from harm (Daniel 3). Or maybe you’ve heard about the God that shut the mouths of Lions while His servant, Daniel, was locked in their den (Daniel 6). And maybe you’ve read about the God-man, Jesus, who freed many from oppression, healed many of diseases, commanded storms to be still, and approached the lepers and the lowly and showed them love.
Today, I want to encourage you with this simple truth: The God you’ve heard of in the ancient stories of the Bible, is the SAME GOD you call on today. The SAME GOD you have access today. The SAME GOD that answered prayers in the Bible will answer yours. The SAME GOD that provided then, will provide for you now—even when it seems like there’s no way. The SAME GOD that parted waters then, can part waters for you to walk into freedom with Him. The SAME GOD that healed many, can bring healing into your life today. So, take a moment—right now—to choose to believe that—to choose to put your trust in Him. In the face of whatever’s in front of you this week, choose to put your trust in the ever-faithful, never changing, all powerful, all providing, all loving, SAME GOD.
And never ever forget, the SAME GOD that created the earth and everything within it, is the SAME GOD that paid your debt on the cross, and is the SAME GOD that walked out of the tomb very much alive. He’s beckoning you to walk in that kind of freedom today! So, call on the SAME GOD today.
